History

Sants was historically an industrial working-class neighborhood, while Montjuïc hosted the 1929 International Exposition and the 1992 Olympics. Today it blends residential areas with major cultural venues.

Must See

Visit the Montjuïc Castle, the Joan Miró Foundation, the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), the Magic Fountain, and the Poble Espanyol open-air museum. The Sants area offers authentic local markets and tapas bars.

Things to Know

Sants offers excellent value with good transport (major train station) and a local atmosphere. Montjuïc areas are quieter and greener. Some areas near the port can be less charming.
